Being able to use them as two separate controllers for impromptu multiplayer sessions is incredibly convenient. I've lost count of how many times I've been at a friend's place and we've been able to start a game of Mario Kart or Overcooked without needing extra controllers. The HD Rumble is also a standout feature — it's subtle but adds a lot to the gaming experience when implemented well. The motion controls are responsive and accurate, which is essential for games like Splatoon where gyro aiming is a must. The battery life has remained consistent even after a year, which surprised me. I typically get around 15-18 hours of play time before needing to recharge, and the charging speed is reasonable — about 3 hours to go from empty to full when attached to the console. The color options are also a big plus. I went with the neon yellow and purple set and they look fantastic. The finish is glossy and eye-catching, though it does show fingerprints pretty easily. Connectivity has been mostly reliable, but I have experienced occasional desync issues when playing in docked mode with the Joy-Cons detached.
