AirPods Max USB-C

If you already own the Lightning AirPods Max, don't bother upgrading. The USB-C is nice but not $550 nice. The sound is identical. The ANC is identical. The build is identical. The only difference is the port. If you're buying your first pair, sure, get these. But if you already have the Lightning version, save your money. The headphones themselves are great — amazing sound, great ANC, premium build. But this isn't a meaningful upgrade.

I wanted to love these but I just cant justify the price. The sound quality is really good — clear mids, nice bass, good detail. The USB-C is a welcome upgrade. But they're so heavy. After an hour my neck hurts. The ear cups make my ears hot. The case is a joke. For $550 I expect perfection and these are far from it. My Bose QC Ultras are more comfortable and cost less. I'm returning these.

I've been through so many headphones over the years. Beats, Bose, Sony, Sennheiser. Nothing compares to these. The sound quality is on another level — I'm hearing instruments in songs I've listened to hundreds of times that I never noticed before. The noise cancellation is so good I have to tap people on the shoulder. The USB-C charging is super convenient. Build quality is incredible — these feel like they'll last forever. Yes they're heavy but you get used to it after a few days. Best purchase I've made in years.

I upgraded from the Lightning version and the USB-C makes such a difference in daily use. I can charge with the same cable as my MacBook. The sound quality is identical to the original — which is to say, phenomenal. The ANC is incredible. The build quality is unmatched. If you're in the Apple ecosystem, these are a no-brainer. Yes they're expensive but you get what you pay for.

I had the Lightning version for two years and sold them to get the USB-C model. Honestly, the headphones are identical in every way except the port. But that one change makes a huge difference in daily convenience. I no longer need a separate cable for my headphones. The sound quality is still incredible. ANC is still top tier. Build quality is still premium. If you don't already own the Lightning version, get these. If you do, it's a nice upgrade but not essential.

Ordered these refurbished in "Good" condition and they showed up looking almost new. A tiny scuff on the left ear cup that I had to really look for. The USB-C charging is so convenient. Sound quality is excellent — I hear details in my music I never noticed before. ANC is amazing. Battery life has been solid. For the price I paid (about $320), this was a steal. Very happy.

I've been waiting for the USB-C version to drop before buying these. So glad I waited. One cable for everything now — my MacBook, iPad, and these all use the same charger. The headphones themselves are incredible. The sound quality is absolutely stunning — rich, detailed, with a soundstage that makes my old Sony XM4s sound muddy in comparison. Noise cancellation is best in class. Build quality is premium. Yes they're heavy, yes the case is weird, but the audio experience is worth it. If you've been holding out for USB-C, this is your sign.

I'm a musician and these are genuinely impressive. The frequency response is balanced and accurate. The soundstage is wide. The detail retrieval is excellent. I've used these for reference mixing and they translate well to other systems. USB-C means I can plug directly into my interface. Obviously not a replacement for proper studio monitors but for a wireless headphone they're remarkably good. The ANC is a bonus for when I need to focus.
