If you already own the Lightning AirPods Max, don't bother upgrading. The USB-C is nice but not $550 nice. The sound is identical. The ANC is identical. The build is identical. The only difference is the port. If you're buying your first pair, sure, get these. But if you already have the Lightning version, save your money. The headphones themselves are great — amazing sound, great ANC, premium build. But this isn't a meaningful upgrade.

I wanted to love these but I just cant justify the price. The sound quality is really good — clear mids, nice bass, good detail. The USB-C is a welcome upgrade. But they're so heavy. After an hour my neck hurts. The ear cups make my ears hot. The case is a joke. For $550 I expect perfection and these are far from it. My Bose QC Ultras are more comfortable and cost less. I'm returning these.
